Walking the old Southwestern Interurban

Just came back from my postponed putting.  I filmed a stretch of the old Southwestern interurban line that runs through the Metroparks in Berea.  Found fewer relics than I hoped, but the was able to traverse the roadbed, see several bridge remnants and possibly an original electrical pole.  I'm going to edit it, hopefully with some authentic interurban sounds, and post the video in the near future.  Check back!

  1. The photo from SRR Dive was a tunnel which lead over to and ran along Fowles up Eastland Road. The road which dips down towards the horse farm on the North side of SRR Drive is actually a fill over the old tracks.

Growing up not far from that area, as a kid, access to the old tunnel could still be made from the roadbed to SRR Drive. It was almost filled in but near the top of the fill, you could gain entry. Once inside it went a short distance where the rest of the tunnel was filled in.

The old maps of the area, also showed a cemetery, possibly a family plot, somewhere between the tunnel and South Eastland.
